It is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in North America. It sits atop a sheer-walled, 367-foot sandstone bluff. It is a beautiful place, but there is a lot of walking and heat.

My first photo in response to this week’s challenge is this amazing Buddha in a wok in Thailand.
This second photo is a different kind of ‘intricate’. This is the kind that is made of memories, made up of life and death, made of soft and hard, made of dark and light. In each stitch there is a piece of a heart, soul or spirit of someone in this story. It is a birthday, a funeral, a date or a shower. All done by the sweet, wrinkled hands covered with paper thin skin of the eighty-four year old matriarch of our family. There are tears weaved through one patch, blood stains on another, all sewn together to become the story of our family.
